Do people commute from Portland to Beaverton by public transit or car?

It's so much more than that. Also, the trains are really slow. If Portland had invested in heavy rail like Atlanta, which has its own dedicated tracks that do not share right-of-way, commute times would have been much more competitive with driving. Compare similar 25 mile commutes through Atlanta and through Portland:

But the OP won't be riding through down town. Based on his comments he will board at the stadium stop on SW 18th and be disembarking at the Beaverton Transit Center, a ride of about 17 minutes.

Personally, my concerns about commute time, would only come into it if it were, like, double the drive time. The convenience of being able to read or do something besides drive, not having to deal with the stress of traffic, of finding parking places, etc. ... all make MAX a much more attractive option, IMO.

Take the train everyday, low stress way to get to work. How close to train station is work?

Where do you suggest the huge amount of stop and go traffic from the Tunnel all the way out to 185th comes from?
