I don't like it when my money goes towards bloated marketing/name recognition schemes, whether it's from the company that makes my storm door or the company that sells me health insurance. A well deserved reputation for good customer service, good products and fair business practices will go a lot farther.

I actually thought Moda/ODS was a pretty good company before this. Of course, if it means that for my busted ankle they'll cover the same treatments that the Blazers get, I might change my mind again.

You can call it what you want. I still call Parker Stadium by its real name.

That's down in the Elliot Neighborhood, isn't it?

I'm fine with the change because:

1. Paul Allen financed the arena privately so he can call whatever he wants;
2. As a 40 something native, Rose Garden = the (International) Rose (Test) Garden in Washington Park; and
3. The arena name "Rose Garden" always felt like a flimsy imitation of other arenas like Boston Garden (now TD Garden) and Madison Square Garden.

So yes, please sell the naming rights and reinvest the funds into improving the product or better yet, improving the Rose Quarter. It's still called the Rose Quarter, right???

Should have named it the "Bankruptcy as a Business Strategy" Arena

That would be confusing since the strategy is so common

That's does bring up a conundrum. If accuracy counts for anything "The Ghost Quarter" or the "J.Isaac Memorial Dead Zone" should be considered.

Pretty sad place when there's not an event. It fell off my map when early on they tried to nick me $10 for parking having lunch at Cucina! Cucina! It went downhill from there when TGIFriday's started acting like Las Vegas sports bar instead of... well, a TGIFriday's.

Well it's been over a month.

How many people are now calling the Rose Garden the Moda Center?
Portlands memory is short.

The radio guys say the name with a little bit of contempt.
