You are too broke to pay your electric bill and you are eating in restaurants. I don't have any advice that can help you.

It is not your washer and dryer. It isn't doing you any good without electricity, so I can't see how it is any hardship for it to be removed.

You are going to have to go. Just go and save yourself the misery of a fight that is just going to result in your being kicked out, anyway, but with an eviction on your record that will make your life miserable.

Who bought the washer and dryer? If they did, they didn't steal it. If they didn't, they stole it, and you could probably just call the cops.

Do a quick Google search for low or no-cost legal advice in your area.

Original Poster: Seek legal advice from Legal Aid or call an Attorney who does this sort of legal work, most will do a free consultation and some do a wee bit of Pro Bono work.

you have an odd situation so you do need to go to legal aid or an attorney.

first, oregon law states that a landlord cannot enter a renter's home without giving notice, last i checked it was to be at least 24 hours ahead of time. they may owe you money as a fine that is assessed by statute, for violating that.

second, that washer may be in a trust that they are administering, meaning they have control over the property.
if you never had any form of agreement about the washer (or the utilities), then it isn't necessarily included in the rental. if there was a verbal agreement, then you may have rights. if the ownership changed, you should probably have been given some form of notice about changes before they took effect.
You need to find out who has the legal right to control the old man's property that is in trust.

have you been paying rent? no mention that i saw. if so then you may have some kind of receipt, canceled check, bank record, money order stub, etc that can help establish your length of time residing there.

beware some of the answers on this thread, they aren't necessarily all accurate.

here is a link to the oregon landlord- tenant laws online:

of course i'm no attorney, use your own judgement when taking advice.
