This came up in another thread. In order not to make it longer and not to hijack, I thought I would begin a new one one this topic. A friend of mine who was born here did some research and found this link.
Portland Public Market | Oregon Encyclopedia - Oregon History and Culture
The last paragraph talks about a small vestige of market stalls that lasted through the 70's. I believe are the ones I was thinking of and what I saw when I first moved to Portland. But I knew I didn't see them for long.
I can't quite figure out what they are planning now.

I see. At least I see now. All I saw was an idea when I read about it a couple of weeks ago. It looks a bit up scale for my wallet but I guess we shall see.

I remember the Yamhill Market back in the early-80's and it failed miserably. It had a terrific produce stand but was terribly expensive. Back then the Saturday Market didn't re-open until April, so people weren't enticed to go to that area during the winter, anyway.
