Considering moving to Oregon in 2007. During my online home value searches, Multnomah County comes up as the most reasonably priced...just curious as to whether there's any particular reason for this? Having lived in California all my life, I have little to no knowledge at all about Portland and its surroundings. Thanks!

Maybe if you click on the Portland Forum at the top of this page, you can get more information there than from here. Perhaps more of the Portland people are posting there. It is at least worth a try. Also at the top is Seach and just typing in the word Portland should help fund first hand information on the city of Roses.

Faulty research?

It's one of the two least affordable...and overvalued...of Oregon's markets as ranked by county.

EDIT: I heard this a while back, and was pretty sure I could document this claim after searching the web for a few minutes. But I can't. So I withdraw the statistic. But I stick to the opinion that it's in the bottom third or so of affordability by county. Since it's such a big market, there are probably more entries at the extreme low end of the price scale. But on an equivalent construction comparison study...Multnomah's pretty expensive.

This is what I had heard as well, which is why I was somewhat surprised when my search yielded a bunch of homes in Multnomah County between 175k and 200k. The website I am using to search the MLS is REMOVED
