Best websites to look for Portland jobs? (sales, 2014)

So my husband and I have resolved that 2014 is the year we try to move to Portland. But now comes the hard part -- trying to secure employment. We're going to try applying from afar for a good 6 months while we stockpile more savings for the move, even though we know getting a job when you don't live there can be really difficult.

That being said, I was wondering what the best websites are to look for Portland jobs? Craigslist seems like a bit of a ghost town. And I'm on the Nike mailing list (Which is super helpful -- They post like 5 new jobs a day, eventually they have to post something I'm vaguely qualified for )

I see lots of jobs on the compiler websites such as Indeed. It might be sector-specific though.

Well I have an eclectic work history, that I can gear toward any number of positions

But specifically Creative/Entertainment/Advertising/Marketing/New Media/etc...
Although I have some technical background as well as a programmer. And I have some background as a journalist. And I'm also currently a (middle) manager (in the creative/entertainment field), so I'm open to those positions as well.

So yeah, probably not anything in like Health Care and Accounting -- but then again even most Health Care and Accounting places have Public relations/Copywriters/Website kind of stuff as well.

And my Husband is Manager of Proposals and Business Development, which could apply to a number of fields. He works in vocational testing currently but he's been recruited by random industries like aerospace. And obviously non-profit would be a great (if lower paying) fit for him.

So all over the place really.... I'm willing to check as many websites a day for job postings as there are websites that post jobs

But I find sites like Monster and Indeed to not be very helpful if you are not looking for the world's most specific job position. We're both open to lots of possibilities.

Wow, there are a lot of Creative positions in Portland, but I don't think they advertise much. More word of mouth. But you are on the right track for a dream. Jobs first. Then housing. Then the move.

Yeah, that's what it seems like. Or they post to their company website only. I've started to reach out to my contacts. I just wanted to make sure there weren't some places I could be checking that I'm not.

Look around LinkedIn at groups like PDX Technology Professionals, pdxMindShare, Technology Association of Oregon, PDX Software Engineering - there might be some for creative jobs.

- Networking through friends and e-xcoworkers
- Craigslist
- LinkedIn Groups
- Indeed
- Twitter (several PDX specific job users there)
- Monster
- Mac's List
- CareerBuilder (prepare to get spammed with insurance sales jobs and Indian recruiters sending you jobs you're not qualified for)
