300 Miles on I-5 is going to be an 8 hour drive. The Border Crossing can be another hour. The Portland to Washington crossing is another hour or more. That is 10 hours one way. If you really think that is not an all day drive you are either a troll, a fool, or very young without a clue or any idea of what the area is like.

No, I don't think I'm confused at all. Why would a trip from Portland, OR Vancouver BC be an all day affair if I leave early in the morning?
Because it's 300 miles and you have to cross a border, and Seattle to get through. You don't really want to leave too early in the morning, because you don't want to be anywhere near Seattle at a rush hour.

And furthermore, that's not a "commute." It's a trip. You cannot "commute" to Vancouver BC from Portland.

And that time is no lunch stop, no fuel stop, and no traffic in Portland or Seattle. And if you need to pee more then once every 4 hours that will add more time.

Finally. Maybe you are a little less confused now. Better stick with Dallas/Fort Worth.

For the record Google Maps has the commute at 5 hours 8 minutes. (5 hours 38 minutes in traffic).

Hey, if you don't want to hear the answer, don't ask the question. Or at the very least ask it in a way that people can understand, or don't get snippy when people try and clarify things.

Gosh, I guess I can understand relying on a computer rather than people who actually drive it. it'd be nice if you could drive it in that short of a time, but you just can't. Google doesn't factor in traffic in Seattle, or the typically long waits at the border.

Sorry, since you added it after I quoted ... I just have to laugh at Google adding THIRTY MINUTES for "traffic." That's beyond funny.

Bing has it at 5 hours and 6 minutes (5 hours and 23 minutes in traffic).

I don't know, I guess I will just need to drive it and see for myself.
