Howdy, All,

I am new to this site so mea culpa if this post is "off bounds" in terms of content.

I have been in PDX for nearly four years. I love it. I'm originally from the other Portland (Maine) and never thought I'd find a spot that would feel as much like home. I'm delighted that I was wrong.

Anyhoo, I would like to find others, like me, who identify as veghead Foodies as I'm starting a dinner group. Toward that effort, I submit the following for your consideration. I hope to hear from you:

******
Foodies hear me cawl you! Come to the table!

So, here's a stumper for you: is it possible to be vegetarian/vegan/flexitarian and also consider oneself a Foodie?

If a Foodie is someone who loves to explore different cuisines, revels in learning about new cooking techniques, and is culinarily adventurous (but eschews the meat options) does this mean that a veghead would automatically be excluded from this definition?

For me the answer is, "No!"

I love PDX! It has so much to offer on the food scene. There are sooo many restaurants, offering such a diversity of gustatory delight! I'm eager to do some exploring. And for this reason, I'm putting out the call to other bold vegheads: There is a lot the menu, folks, and much to be savored, let's get together and break bread!

My suggestion -- the formation of a small (5 or so) dinner group to explore the PDX restaurant world, meeting once-a-month.

Me: female, 40, long-time CSA subscriber, vegetarian, gardener, enthusiastic foodie, rabid book fiend, community seeking and focused, comfortable in small group settings, determined to find other culinary scofflaws! Seeking similiar...

You: only absolute criteria? Eager to share your food love with others, contribute to lively table banter, and equally affirmed in knowing that "vegheads are food freaks, too!"

When you reply, please share description of a recent foodie delight (it could be a chocolatier experience, a farmers' market discovery, a cheese adventure, a eurphoric bakery moment, or maybe even, a wine bacchanal!)

My favorite restaurant (at the moment; cuz you know it's always changing!): Iorio.

I look forward to hearing from you!
A Votre Sante!

Cheers,
sadie67
