There is this little quirk about Oregon. Oregonians don't believe in giving steep discounts to out-of-staters where all the additional cost that the visitors don't pay for are paid for by the Oregon taxpayers.

Also, if you want to put backs up, just keep on telling us how much better things are in Los Angeles.

You get to pay the same price for local transit that the locals pay. Take it or leave it, makes no difference to anyone here. Be glad nobody lets me decide, because I would make the people who are not contributing tax money towards the costs pay actual costs. Then you'd really be cross.

Now there is a great idea.

Geez... Was that really neccesary?

The poster just asked about the cost of the pass and then realized that maybe a 7-day pass might be a better deal after people suggested that. There's no reason to get into a huff about a polite question. No one claimed that out-of-staters should pay less.

Trimet is primarily funded by payroll taxes in the Trimet service area(Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties) and then by fares. It's not funded by state taxes for the most part, though it occasionally recieves some federal and state grants(mostly federal grants).

So if you don't live in Multnomah, Washington, or Clackamas counties---your tax dollars aren't really going towards TriMet to begin with.

I have to disagree to a certain extent. If all the OP wanted to know was if there was a cheaper option ... that's the way it would have been worded. Throwing in how much more expensive it is than a similar pass in LA ... is inviting comment. IMO.

It's not that big a deal. People just like to get outraged about the smallest things on here--some seem to have chips on their shoulders...
