The "Tenderloin" is still there. Often called Skidrow. Most of the Pearl encompassed it a few years back. But the question was on hotels in Portland. The one I suggested is the closest I am aware of to the Pearl and entertainment area known as the Pearl.

If it is/was an official hotel and/or a place of business in Portland, it would be google-ized.

Even if it's a lowly flop-house, I should be able to find something, but I can't find anything at all...not a mention, not an address, nothing historical wise, nuttin' at all.

Steve, give us the address, if you can.
I have to go downtown tomorrow and I'll see if I can find it.
You've got me curious.

I don't think the world revolves around Google. There are many hotels and motels in this world that are not on Google. But if it is Google you want, than do a Google Earth street view of the Brody Theater, and you will see the Hotel is alive and well. That would be the corner of SW Broadway and SW Burnside.

It was The Broadway Hotel. It has been, since 2009, the Helen M. Swindell Apartments.

I worked on a project across the street from that place. It does help explain Steve's view of Portland.

I thought it was the Broadway, but when I was there last year I was told they called it the Brody now.

I will agree that having lived there , in Gresham, at 181st and Burnside, in Troutdale, and Rockwood, and 16th and Alberta, may have colored my opinion of the town, but I still stay in low cost hotels when I travel on the MC and they don't all show up on Google. He asked for hotels. I suggested a good view of the popular end of Portland away from the snobbery uptown. If it doesn't suit your needs, please don't stay there. But you need to leave it up to the OP to decided what fits their needs.

Although my last stay in Portland was at the hotel up on 6th and Taylor. I don't remember the name but it was a fair older hotel with so-so rooms about 9 blocks south of the Broadway/Brody location.

Thanks EnricoV.
Excellent piece of detective work.

Saves me from driving around downtown tomorrow looking for some place called the "Brody".
"Broadway" sounds close enough to "Brody" for someone to hear it incorrectly.

I was just there a couple of weeks ago across from the Brody Theater. That may be why I thought it was the Brody. It is 50 years since I first lived there. That was the first place I lived in Portland. Oh, and my wife says that was the Hilton we stayed at.

The Eastland was recently renovated top-to-bottom. Now a Westin. Top floor is a restaurant and bar with pretty spectacular views.
