I'm considering moving to Portland and looking for a single family home, with about 2000-2500 sq ft of space and a small fenced enclosed back yard.

Ideally, I would find place where I could easily walk to a large park to run or hike with my dogs. In addition, I would also love to not move my car, and walk to some decent bars, restaurants.

I am looking for a neighborhood that really has sense of community and would be dog friendly as well. I am in my 40s bachelor, so don't need to be in the hippest coolest neighborhood. I would even consider communities just outside of the city if they had what I was looking for.

Any help is appreciated.

We are very happy in North Portland near the University of Portland. It's a more affordable neighborhood and the lots are pretty big. It's also only a 10 minute drive to downtown and the bus is quick too. There are a lot of restaurants on Lombard and in St. Johns.

Two large labs. I just need access to a park, and a small fenced backyard.

Everywhere in Portland is dog friendly, especially if you are looking to buy.

It doesn't matter what "kind of dogs" they are if he's looking to buy property.

The older properties tend to have larger lots. Many of the new propertied tend to not have much more than a Pee Pad outside the back door. Avoid the newer communities if you want real dog friendly.

Check out Multnomah Village; it's 3-4 miles south of downtown, green, hilly and has a great dog park in Gabriel Park. Plus, it has a central business with restaurants, bars and the like. Plus, it is only 4 miles from Tigard and Washington Sq for shopping and gas. "The Village" is a great neighborhood and is centrally located to a lot of things. You can run in Gabriel Park or head over to the nearby trails at Tryon Creek St Park and Marquam Nature Park. The neighborhood is clean and friendly.

Your housing budget would be fine, too. 400k should get you a nice property. I love living in Multnomah Village!

Happy Trails,
