I grew up in San Francisco during the 70's and 80's...left in the 90's. Public schools in the city have been "not so good" for as long as I can remember. Families back in the day could easily send their kids to Catholic schools even if they were lower middle class. Not anymore. Many people I grew up with from my Catholic a High school have left the city because going to Catholic schools now is extremely expensive and the public schools have gotten worse. I grew up in Cow Hollow which is now annoyingly rich. Home prices have not have been negatively impacted by the crappy school system for at least 40 years now in S.F....lol.

The Lake was clean and safe when I was there. I lived a block off the lake and used the Lake Grove swim park I can not recommend LO enough to people. It was a great place to live and the neighbors you meet are flippin' nice. I was active in the Parks and Rec stuff when I lived there and never ran out of cheap stuff to do. Also if you have to go downtown or the airport during the week and don't want to drive you can take the WES to hop on the MAX.

You have to go under 5, and into Tualatin on Boones Ferry. ( specifically : Tualatin WES Station
18955 SW Boones Ferry Rd ) I lived in Lake Grove close to the Albertson's so it took me all of 5 / 10 minutes to get to the station.
