I was given a garbage company name and they got really bad reviews. I don't think I can avoid them and wanted to see what my options are. It seems they are the only company in our area to pick up trash.

Thanks!

As far as I know, for residential at least, it's franchised and you get what you get. That said, as long as they pick up the trash, how bad can it be?

Didn't know it was franchised. How come the cities don't have garbage service?

I heard this garbage company doesn't pick up all the time and has very bad billing errors , etc. it would just be nice to know there are more than one option for garbage service.

That explains the what, but not the why. I don't know if it's different in other cities near Portland. But do cities ever actually do the pick up? Isn't it generally private companies?

Thanks for the link! Interesting. I am coming from another state where the cities usually have garbage pickup which is nice. All my utilities too are in one bill too besides pg&e. I was surprised to see how many separate utility bills I will have. Not complaining just surprised.

Not picking up is a problem. And weird, since that's, you know, why they exist.

And yes, all the bills are separate around here.
