I am looking to introduce some native frog specific to my yard - any clue where/when to find tadpoles?

Im certainly willing to hike somewhere if necessary - I just have no clue where to look.

Thoughts?

Hughes Garden Center is our usual place to get tadpoles. They have a limit of 6 per customer and they might not have any left by now, it is a little late - we got ours almost a month ago....

Perfect! I found them online but their website didn't specifically say. I may have to wait until next year but that's fine. I appreciate the reply!

You can even now drive along most more rural roads that have a ditch on the sides. Find an area that has some water in the ditch. Often you can find tadpoles here. Also look in puddles in rural areas, or areas where frogs are known to live.

Duct tape an old broom pole to an aquarium net to get the tadpoles out of the water filled ditch, puddle, etc. Put them in a plastic 5 gallon bucket which has some water in it.

Sometimes you can get buckets free at fast food places, like Burger King. Pickle chips come in them.

Perfect! My only problem with getting random ones is that I don't want to introduce Bullfrogs to my environment. I know they look quite different when older but I may not be able to tell the difference in a smaller tadpole. I don't want a frog that tries to eat my birds!

Tim - I found them there and was shocked that they were free! What an amazing place that is. Thanks again for the recommendation.

Are your tads in a pond or are you keeping them separate for now? Mine are separate and not loving the food I got them for them... if yours are not in a pond with lots of algae, do you mind me asking what you are feeding them?

You can search at night. When you hear the sounds of Pacific Tree Frogs, chances are any tadpoles you find in the area, are the same.....

BullFrogs sound completely different...
