My only comment is that no one should be asking a question like this as they relocate to any city. This and all information should be gotten firsthand by visiting a place under consideration before the move is made. It's an impossible question to answer because it is far too subjective. Like the story of the blind men and the elephant; each person you ask will give you a different perspective based on their own experiences.

Well OP there's certainly no better way to find out about a city then to hop on an internet forum a couple days before you move to ask broad, generalized questions. Kudos!

Good luck; something tells me you're going to need it, desperately.

Sure. Come aboard and get your hi. It is actually encouraged to disassociate from reality. Cops won't arrest you. Then, you can enjoy the great outdoors and live in a tent. People are friendly here that actually will give you free money when you threatened them! After a while, you will feel your life is not worth spit. No Worries! Portland provides plenty of bridges to jump off.

Yes, the rumors are true. The liberal, friendly city is here to welcome you!

and yes, It is tic.

It tends to vote democrat in state and national elections, but it's far from liberal.

That was my take.

Most of that fits the stereotype, but I don't think anyone has ever described Portland as a "great singles city." That seems like a <wink> that the OP is in on the joke.
