I have heard that PPS is looking for qualified teachers at the grade school level. Spanish immersion programs are in high demand. If you are fluent in Spanish you should have no problem at all.

That's awesome. Thanks. What time of year was she looking, and did she have her Oregon certification already?

I'm at a school in Las Vegas that I love right now, which is great, so I'm hesitant to commit to moving back when I don't know what I'd be heading back to. Oregonwoodsmoke, I think you're right that it would probably be a good idea to find a job before moving. The problem is, I think it is also likely that most districts would be less likely to interview me if I didn't have a local address. It's like a catch-22.
Don't assume this. Having a Texas address hasn't affected me applying for jobs or getting interviews. But what you will absolutely need to do is get your Oregon (and/or Washington) licenses in order before bothering to apply for jobs. Some districts require all those documents to be uploaded into their system before you can even get to the point that you can actually apply for jobs online.

Phone interviews are common in the education world. But you might need to be available to hop a plane for a local in-person interview. Shouldn't be a problem getting a quick cheap flight from Vegas to PDX.
