It seems like every time I turn around someone is moving to Portland. I heard about the influx of Californians saga before I moved here from Denver. However, I have noticed an increased wave of newly-cemented Portlanders that come from all over the world. It's like all of the sudden, Portland is the must-live-in city in the US. Surely, big businesses will start converging on the city as well to support the much needed infrastructure to employ and house the ever-growing addition of transplants.

Honestly, what you describe has been going on since the 1990's.
It's nothing new.

You can liken it to the old saw about boiling a frog.
It's just gotten to the point where it's very noticeable.

I still don't know why people are moving here. There is nothing cool about the Portland area, compared to other bigger cities.

Well, our airport has distinctive carpet.

That's something worth moving for, right?

I like Portland, but it would be much more appealing if it had the same type of opportunities present in other areas of the country

When one looks at what the homeless have done to the entire downtown, the rain, the rapidly increasing costs of rents/housing and just the questionable mental state of many of the people here I am also amazed at how people keep pouring in.

Of course, that said, there are probably so many worse big cities that maybe this is a nice place when compared to others.

I just hope that this leads to a major real estate bubble crash. I'd love to purchase a house from a Californian transplant who overpaid by $150k whose house is now worth $200k less than they bought it for. Assuming they didn't pay cash, as a "Cashole". Either way, this is my dream.

Big dreams, eh? If I were you I would stop dreaming and come up with a real "plan". Maybe you can get a better financial planner or work a second job. Your last post seems a bit angry.
