Hi, I found a 2011 thread about the N. Williams, Humboldt neighborhood, I wonder if crime rates have decreased since with several new apartment buildings up now. WalkScore.com shows the N. Williams, Humboldt neighborhood is very close to a high crime area but Trulia.com shows this neighborhood is in a "lowest crime" area. I look forward to hearing from some locals, thanks! (By the way, I found a somewhat affordable studio there and seriously looking to move there.)

It's safe. Property crime (car break-ins, vandalism, bike theft) are likely the biggest problems. The schools are not highly rated, but that only matters for families. Basic street smarts are needed for any close-in Portland neighborhood, but that is true of any city.

@VelouriaPDX, thanks! I don't drive, no kids. I'll get extra strong lock for my $1.7k folding ebike.

There is no lock made that will keep an e-bike safe. Not all night anyway. That isn't a slur on NoPo, its common sense anywhere in Portland.

How about 3 locks then? :-) Changed my mind about NoPo, will move to Goose Hollow instead, cost $200 more a month but it's a 1-bedroom instead of a studio.

Goose Hollow is very nice, enjoy! And bring your bike in at night. Thieves will go as far as removing the bike staple from the cement to slide the bike off. We've even seen stop signs that have been removed from the cement to steal a bike.

That I have not seen, but I have seen frames that were once bicycles, lying locked to the bike staple, picked clean of every single component and accessory. I don't expect anyone to hump their Smart Car up two flights of stairs, but if they don't think enough of their bicycle to break a little sweat to keep it safe, who am I...

@Leisesturm. Wow! Really? Thanks for the warning.

@VelouriaPDX. Yes, GH does looks nicer and more peaceful with hardly any homeless people than some apartments near PSU.
