An update from my thread, "Texan to visit PDX." Since my trip to PDX two weeks ago, and my subsequent offer, I have been in discussions about salary, etc...but, I believe we've come to an agreement. Ironically, I had another offer from a small company in Austin come up during this time. $ isn't as good...at least initially, so I don't know what my level of interest is compared to the opportunity in PDX. The PDX position has the opportunity of bringing in six figures, which is a definite appeal to me at this point.

My brother lives in Beaverton...ironically, less than 5 minutes from the office of this company I'm considering, so I have a place to stay while I look for a place of my own. I have no clue whether I want to live in the city or the burbs...I'm definitely going to rent since I may only be in PDX a year or two. I'm mid-30's male, straight, single, have a car (of course I do, I'm from Texas), will have a reasonable income, like to go out to nice places, love wine and beer, outgoing, etc...so any opinions on places to rent would be helpful. Also, and I know I'm going out on a limb here, but any place(s) to find something similar to Tex-Mex in PDX???

The suburbs and the city are all the same in portland. If you're making that much and you like to do things I would recommend living downtown. Don't live in beaverton!

Default Esparzas Tex-Mex Cafe is great

Check out Esparzas Tex-Mex Cafe in Sotheast Portland. The owner is from Dallas and the food is awesome! It sounds like you want the yuppie lifestyle. Consider the Pearl or Waterfront district near downtown for those amenities.

Maybe some of the women from the "any good men in portland?" thread will invite him over for dinner.
