Wilsonville is a middle class suburb that is pleasant, but it is also a transportation nightmare. I-5 is the only corridor to go north-south. You can cut over to 99W, but there is no real direct route, just a meandering two-lane highway, and then you are likely to run into traffic on 99W, though you can get a better connection just north of I-205 over to 99W.

This suburb was definitely born in the 80's, and boomed in the 90's and beyond. I do remember in the early 80's it was still mostly farmland, but even then Holiday Inn put up a multi-story hotel there, and since then it has become "suburban-dense".

Similar story down in Woodburn, about 15 miles south of Wilsonville. Was once just a gas station stop, now a thriving suburb with big outlet shopping and growing residential.

They have a max train that goes all the way from Beaverton to Wilsonville but it only works during weekdays and regular work hours.

No, they don't. The nearest that MAX gets is to Milwaukie.

What does exist is a commuter rail train (passenger train on regular train tracks) that goes from Wilsonville to the Beaverton Transit Center a couple of times a day.

If you want to take transit from Wilsonville to downtown Portland you have to take the bus.

I assume you're talking about having to take the bus if you don't want to drive into Portland on weekends. Monday-Friday, the WES commuter rail runs every half hour to Beaverton from about 5:30 - 9:00 AM and to Wilsonville from about 4:00 - 7:30 PM (going both ways during those times). I haven't used it, but someone on here posted that it's easy to get from WES to MAX in the Beaverton Transit Center.
