I'm okay with a single garage. I just want at least one stall to park my 2nd car that is my "toy" and may have a higher theft risk to the right person.

Goofy random question that just popped into my mind:

Is it legal in Beaverton, Hillsboro, Portland, etc. to use a gas grill on a balcony of an apartment?

I've got one that I just bought last summer and it's on my list of stuff to downsize and sell if I have to to make the move.

I just want to figure out if it's something I can even use.

In case no one has pointed it out, a large portion of urban Washington County (Hillsboro is the county seat; Beaverton is the other major municipality) is unincorporated, including where I live (just west of the Beav). All of Aloha (to the extent that an unincorporated area can be said to have boundaries) is part of unincorporated Washington County. This means that rules tend to be less strict as there is less of a municipal control hovering process going on.

The tradeoff, of course, is that a government that doesn't do much against you also doesn't do much for you. (Sound great? I have two words for you: rat problem.) So if you are worried about what's allowed, first, consider living in unincorporated Washington County, and second, make sure you don't move somewhere with an HOA that will have hall monitors measuring your blades of grass and issuing you citations.

Check with the apartment manager/owner. I do know that the Portland Fire Department frowns on grills on wood decks.

expect to pay twice the rent compared to Indiana. I have lived in Beaveton for 20 years. It has changed and continues to driving the price of real estate up. This includes rentals. If you can afford it I would recommend renting a town house or a house.

As far as schools go Beaverton has excellent schools. We have been very happy (so far).My daughter is in an option school. She loves it. I can't really say about the high schools other than the Health and Science School is very highly rated. it is an option school so you have to fill out an application and hope for the best.

As far as entertainment, I think it depends a lot of apartments have restaurants and bars near by. 185th is a good location There is Target, best Buy and a bunch of other stores and restaurants nearby
