Just got a new job at intel and relocating from out of state. I have a broken lease from 2012 that I owe money on I have been renting homes direct from owners for the past 5+ years. All positive references!

Besides Craigslist, any suggestions for finding direct-from-owner situations? Any suggestions for bad credit rentals that are new or newly renovated?

New nice rentals are very unlikely to rent to tenants without careful screening. The landlord's who don't screen are the same landlords who don't do good maintenance.

If you've got money, try offering double, or even triple, deposit.

Landlords in Portland deal with laws that make it very difficult and expensive to get rid of bad tenants, so I would expect them to be extra careful about who they let in.

There are 16 thousand empty rentals here. Apply at places with property management, worst case your deposit is more.
