I am a Democrat, Liberal and Socialist. I am open minded and I have read every post on this subject. What comes to my mind I see so much anger on both sides. Every one of you wants to blame the police officers, Antifa, the Democrats, the rioters, the press, the protesters.

In reality we are in a pandemic and this equates to fear, unemployment is at its all time high, admissions to colleges are down, people are dying from the Covid-19 virus, we have never experienced a political division in the last 50 years and we have a movement of BLM.

I believe we have to stop bickering and find a solution to the problems that are facing this country today. Instead of bitching start working in your community to making it a better place. Help raise money for the hunger, find ways to find housing for the homeless, help your neighbors, help the elderly. Make America a better place by contributing to those who need assistance. My best friend is a Veteran, her husband was involved in a head on collision while drive his car only after two months of marriage, he suffered brain damage and was paralyzed and in wheelchair. She took care of him for 42 years, she had to quit her job in the Air Force and was forced to take care of her husband. He died a month ago and she has only a few hundred dollars to live on because she took care of her husband. She had no choice but to take care of him or to leave him. She is non political, she is about love and peace. I give to her as much $$ as I can afford. There are many people losing their homes, losing their lives, losing their family members to this Covid, millions of people living in poverty and need food and you all want to find fault and complain . Black Lives do matter and please acknowledge there would be no rioting or protesting if it were not for the abuse they suffer by police officers, by society in general. We are a racist society. Make America Great Again!!! Start right now in your own neighborhood.

Say hello the the American NKVD. They too were known for showing up at people's homes late at night.

A great start would be All Lives Matter.

BLM is a cover with Marxist founders, Susan Rosenberg at the $$ helm, intent on destroying America.

This Portland rioting isn’t helping anything and is getting black lives killed across the country with this war on police.

Otherwise, everything else you said is great and used to be taught in school, church, and when parents were mature adults. Spoiled adults as children playing revolution in Portland for black people is quite racist.

Two things never mentioned in any of this current racial oppression: personal and parental responsibility.

Well said. If BLM was about BL mattering, they'd also be fighting black on black violence. But all they care about is hating on police and ultimately, getting rid of them and turning the US into a Marxist country. With BLM in charge, of course.

And there would masses of oppressed black people in the streets for 70+ days-n-night across the country on their own instead of this Portland fiasco. No need for Marxist BLM to stoke racial divisions; shouldn’t the Portland “black civil war“ include at least more than a few black people? It doesn’t because none of this is about black folks; they’re just pawns in this white racist Portland naïveté that will end up killing 10,000+ black people across the country.

The vast majority of U.S. black communities/neighborhoods want more police around and don’t need white Portland a-holes patronizing racism.

At least I know that all those white people laying around in Portland during the day finally found some to do at night the past 2+ months.

This is the Portland, Oregon Protest thread, not a debate about reasons behind the protesting.

I wonder how often they target protest leaders only to release them later.

Hester was accused of disorderly conduct and interfering with a peace officer, both misdemeanors. But she was released from custody Monday afternoon, and spokesman Brent Weisberg said the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office had declined prosecution and that the court will dismiss the charges.
“The prosecution decline decision was in the interest of justice upon reviewing the police reports in this matter,” Weisberg said.

The DA will not prosecute most people:

Crimes that the district attorney's office won't prosecute include:

Interfering with a peace officer or parole and probation officer
Disorderly conduct in the second degree
Criminal trespass in the first and second degree
Escape in the third degree
Harassment
Riot (unless accompanied by a charge outside of this list)
