Arresting and holding them will result in somewhat larger demonstrations and Wheeler will have to tolerate that.

Wheeler is well-connected with the business community and was most supported by the higher income people of the city who will, at some point I assume, want their city back. I mean these are the same kind of people who want and can afford to go to Schnitzer Hall, etc...

No, the problem fundamentally was Wheeler and people like him thought they could use the rioting groups as leverage against Trump. Kieth Ellison in Minnesota actually outright said this. If they could be used as paramilitaries to silence his supporters with violence, all the better. Why else do you think the state Attorney General was filing suit against the federal DOJ for defending their own building? Or did you think it was some kind of coincidence that Wheeler turned on the rioters only AFTER they got the result they wanted in 2020? At one point Wheeler went out and marched with them, then immediately declared it a riot as soon as his photo-op was done.
Furthermore this kind of stuff has been going on for YEARS, just on a smaller scale with the police ordered to stand down. This is what you voted for, don't act so surprised when your thugs try to seize power for themselves.

Meanwhile, there's probably going to be more "fun" on May Day tomorrow with the focus being the ICE building. Brace yourselves for the next onslaught of this "idea".

I'm not a believer in conspiracies. Besides, the unrest in Portland helped Trump, not hurt him. So if hurting him politically was the goal it didn't work.

So, what's your explanation for that video? That was almost 3 years ago. Antifa harrassing Portland motorists right in front of a cop. Also, what's your explanation of the DNC chair outright endorsing Antifa? You know, the people who've been terrorizing blue cities like Portland for years now? What's your explanation for the Oregon AG coming legally on the side of the courthouse rioters despite numerous videos of them committing acts of vandalism and using high powered lasers to blind the guards?

When Portlanders stop supplying the idiots with food and water, and stop referencing the violence with "I support their right to protest but..." When they elect politicians who are more concerned about rioting than they are police brutality, that's when the riots will stop.
"Protest" is not what the anarchist gang is doing. Protests are meant to be seen to raise awareness of your issue. You don't "protest" at midnight when no one will see you.

If it were me in charge I'd start offering rewards for identification of these 100-200 people.

In Portland, don't dare resist the peaceful protesters, now carrying assault-style rifles, who are disrupting traffic, slashing tires, and busting drivers' car windows, or you will end up in the hospital. Don't make the protesters angry, the police won't come to your aid.

You are exaggerating. The media says they are "mostly peaceful." That could mean that a demonstrator is only breaking a window or starting a fire 5% of the time. The other 95% of the time they are peaceful.

Or it could mean media is nothing more than a biased mouth piece pushing an agenda.
Nobody actually still believes these folks just report factual news do they?

Thursday evening, an interesting installment on the homeless problem. When government officials say things won't work or can't be done, private citizens such as Jordan Schnitzer and Homer Williams prove them wrong:

why is this thread still called "protest" when it is about "RIOTS"?

These failed humans are not protesting anything, they are angry at the world for their personal failures and seek only to destroy society in a resentful, petulant temper tantrum against the world they cannot cope in
