I'm moving to Portland at the start of November because it seems like a nice place to live and i particulary like the sound of the public transport. When i get there i won't have a job or an aartment and will have roughly a week to find a place. I'd like a studio or one bedroom roughly $500 to $650 a month near a maxline. Do you think this is possible are there any good letting agents any one knows of?

Thanks for any help you can give.

John

To do it right you need more than one week. Especially if you are on a budget. The main MAX line runs from Hillsboro to Gresham there is a lot of real estate between those two points. You might want to narrow things down to at least east or west of the Willamette River?

You could do it, there are a lot of apartments near the MAX line. It may be hard to find something for $500 but between 600-650 should be doable.

there is a great apartment complex that dosn't require a deposit and they start at around $475.00 just afew blocks from the parkrose transit center were the red line on its way to the airport runs thew. The apartments are known at the khana's and outher good nearby apartments within the same block are the satillite and the Astro complex. I could be wrong about the no deposit for the kahanas apartments but the satillite apartments I know for sure non is required, they only charge a $150.00 cleaning fee charged up front for when you move out. its a walking distance from the max station but its not bad I do it nearly everyday.

if anybody can find this same deal on an apartment closer to mount hood community college I would love to hear about it. I would also be interested in apartments located anywhere on the max line close to any given college. Price range nothing higher than $700.00 please.

This thread is a few years old, but I'm pretty much in the same boat as OP. Looking for a place under $650 on the Max Line, I've visited some places in the Beaverton area that seem to meet the criteria. Most places in Portland seem to be more expensive.

Right now I'm leaning toward Wyndhaven. Looks like the rent can be as low as $620 depending on your income, they seem to allow pets (don't have any now, but might want one in the future) and they have a washer/dryer setup on the room, which is convenient. Most importantly, they are right off the Blue Line.

I haven't explored much past the Beaverton TC. If anyone knows of a place I should check out offhand, I'd really appreciate the tip.
