I recommend you wait for the offer to discuss housing. Once you have the offer ask to put a note on their internal bb for a room mate situation. You want to avoid looking needy, that you can't solve this problem on your own.

NIKE used to expect even their professional employees to share a room when traveling, room mates are a part of their corporate culture.

That's a good idea too. I actually suggested it because I did that on my interview. I applied for a transfer from my job in Chicago and they flew me out here but I had to do an in-depth interview with all the trimmings to see if the branch office wanted me.
The interviewer was the office manager; a recent transplant from New Jersey. I mentioned the fact that I didn't know any of the Portland neighborhoods during the interview and he volunteered all sorts of information.
So this was worked fine in my situation but I guess each one might be different.

Sorry for getting back to you guys so late, but I understand what you all are saying and I'll take it into consideration if I'm offered the position.

I think I'll take the approach that Minervah did about mentioning my inexperience of Portland neighborhoods and things like that.

I'll keep you guys updated on my progression.

Best of luck. When I worked for NIKE (years ago) we had almost 1,000 applications for every opening. To make the interview short list, particularly if you are coming from some distance, is no small accomplishment. BUT they may be interviewing 15 candidates so be on your toes.

Had the interview yesterday and went pretty well. They'll call my current managers and get some info from them and they'll call me back within a few days and let me know what's going to happen.

*fingers crossed*

Leave the place better than how it was when you got there.
