Ahh-don't hate me, but I currently live in SF and am looking to move to Portland. Among other things, the cost of living is getting to me and I am actually from the midwest (originally). I miss the cloudy, cool days. I feel in SF everyone is set in their ways and it is just not what I hoped it would be. Compared to here I could afford to buy in PT and have a better standard of living. I hate looking for a parking spot, all the hustle and bustle and not being able to have a dog! SF is notoriously known for being strict on pets in apartments (err!).

I am going to drive up thankgiving weekend and start to check everything out but in the interim, any suggestions?

One more thing - I am growing tired of being around so many yuppies, they all look the same to me. Although I am college educated and work at a Big 4 firm..I don't consider myself a yuppie. I need more artsy folks!

Artsy folks who are really poor , not these ones with money who dont paint but they seem "artsy". They seem to use artsy so freely as a fashion statement.

I think you might like the Mt. Tabor area.

They should replace the term yuppie with "self righteous douchebag", and unfortunately the Bay Area is full of them.
