Provider: Qwest, been with them over a year therefore, no intro price.

Price: $55/month (was $42 before they cut me off the intro rate)
Claim: 7Mbps/896kbps

Night time test result:

Can't really afford it, so I'm thinking of switching to Comcast. Yes or no?

Default Comast cheaper??

It seems to me that Comcast would be higher than Qwest - at least after their introductory prices. I pay $26.99 for my bundled service with Qwest with the lifetime guarantee. 2 year committment. "Cricket" has advertised on TV one of those plug-in internet thingys for $40/month. You might look into that. I'd like to get get cheaper internet, too, without any contract. Good luck.

Comcast in Vancouver is consistantly better than 6.2M down and 1.5M up and I would expect the same in Portland. I think it is normally $33 a month with specials at about $25.

I got "bundled" services from Comcast, i.e., 'phone, internet and cable. I'll be looking for something else here shortly, because the price is going up to $155.00 per month, before taxes. So, close to $170...

Sorry, I can't tell you about the download/upload speed. It is pretty fast though, and I'm not paying for the 'charged' service (an extra $10.00).

I'm look for suggestions as well. I don't use the tv that much so I may drop it altogether.

Have you looked at SpiritOne? I think they're based out of Beaverton. I'd be interested to know what you think about their services. Thanks~

I'm not in Oregon, but this is what I get from Comcast (for $57.95, including home networking). Qwest supposedly now has faster DSL in my neighborhood (up to 20 Mbps instead of the old 1.5 Mbps), and so I'm going to look into bundling with Qwest phone and DirecTV, because of that.

(on a good day) ouch... living in 'the gorge' can really slow you down
(Verizon wireless card, $50/month)
Using it in AZ and NM is almost worth the flight ! (often very fast when not in PDX area)

Default wow

some of you that went to speedtest or w/e have terriable internet...
i have comcast in california the bundel pack phone high speed internet and digital cabel for only 100 bucks a month flat rate and here is the test i ran...

i would highly reconmend comcast but if you are just looking for internet there are several other options. companies like netzero, can offer highspeed internet for somthing around 10 bucks a month however i doubt its all that good. you get what you pay for..
but if u just wana check emails and dont mind the wait im sure u could switch to a much cheaper internet provider.
