As others have said here, this is not a gay issue. It is a trust issue. I firmly believe that sex is a private matter and nobody's business but your own. It has nothing to do with your politics. Everyone knows that FDR and JFK were adulterers, but back then it was taboo to talk about it.

The problem is with the lies and subsequent behavior. Sam was dishonest with his constituents and has deservedly lost their trust. Clinton lied, the Republican senators who blasted him for his morality while having affairs of their own also essentially lied. They all deserve to be held accountable with their constituents for their lack of honesty.

Has this dude been ousted from office yet? Why do Portlanders, and Oregonians in general, seem to really go for the pi$$y types...I don't think a "tell it like it is" mayor would have been elected, let alone done well in Portland.

However, Clinton lied under oath to Congress. That is a criminal offense. He was impeached and were it not for partisan politics would have been rightly removed from office.

The primary reason is recalling a mayor in Portland is very difficult to do. And the mayor isn't going to quit as he'd have nowhere to go except working the mens room at the airport.

It can't be done until July 1. And by that time, people will probably not care.

That's right. He ain't a lawyer or something like that by training, but someone raised on Vera Katz's apron strings. Just like Gavin Newsom in SF stinks, so does PDX mayor Sam Adams. That's just the problem...that people don't care...when they should...and should say "See ya."

you have to go harping on a smart and qualified mayor that was hot for an 18 year old!

Why do you personally give a rip?

The reason that some people care is because there are many of us who have too much respect for the city and for the trust that is to be placed in our elected officials to see a person who is incapable of honesty as the leader of the city.

True leadership is about integrity (look the word up and learn something). It's about honesty. It's about commanding respect from those around you as well as those we have to do business with. For example, if I wanted to place a large business in Portland and I needed to work a complex deal involving the office of the mayor, how could I possibly trust him when he lives a life of lies and openly slanders those who oppose him?

Sam Adams makes the city a complete shameful joke.

Well, the reason I care is,
Sho Dozono would have won the election, if this stuff came out when it should have come out.
The voters where not rightfully informed about something, in order to make a decision, due to a lie.

It's also about wanting an elected official who is a good decision maker. This whole chain of events is pretty much incontrovertible evidence that Sam is NOT a good decision maker - all the way to his refusal to step down.
