i'm having one heck of a time trying to find apartments online from 1200 miles away. there don't seem to be any apartments in my price range that advertise their complexes on any of the rent sites and even when i search apartments through google maps, only a fraction show up. in fact, i had found one apartment through google maps that was just about perfect for my room mate and i, but it has been removed from the list when i looked for it again and i can't remember for the life of me what it was called! when we visited portland we drove around the campus and through the neighborhoods near it and saw apartments on almost every street! so why aren't any of them showing up in any of the searches i've made? do we have to pace the streets and call each one just to find any information on them? can anyone help me?

I don't know what your price range is, but check out sites like Apartments for Rent and Homes for Rent, Apartments For Rent - Nationwide Apartment Rental Search - ForRent.com, and Apartments.com | Find Apartments for Rent, Houses, Condos and Townhomes | Rental Listings. If you're going to be right in the Rock Creek area you will want to look at specifically is Tanasbourne or Bethany, but more generally Hillsboro/Beaverton/Aloha in Washington County. Also check out Craig's List and Oregon Local News, Breaking News, Sports & Weather - OregonLive.com for more classifieds. The Rock Creek campus is in a nice area (high socio-economic status), so most anything you look at within 2-3 miles would be safe.
