To Whom It May....

Hello to everyone. I have heard good things about the City of Portland, OR, however, I am one of those that believe in "seeing is believing." But first of all, I would like to indulge members of this forum to lend their hands of assistance. Given that the economy is still in the "tank", what are the prospects of jobs for a newly graduate with AAS in "Paralegal Studies", other qualifications are BS in Business Management, MBA in Business Administration (only 8 credit hours left) and several years in management?

The weather in Portland, is just right for me.

Patrick

Your prospects are quite poor since we have nearly the highest unempolyment and homeless rates in the country.

You need to cast a much wider net if you're a recent college grad. and want to enter the workforce. (ie don't focus on just one city or part of the country because it will greatly reduce your prospects for success).

Yes, seeing is believing and equally important is local networking.

Prospective employers won't give a crap that the Portland weather is right for you. They'll want to be assured that your the right candidate for them out of the 1000's of resumes they're receiving daily.

Forget the paralegal business. Even the paralegal instructors in the schools here that teach the subject are advising people to get their degrees and move elsewhere. That was my expeience about 5 years ago and it has only gotten worse. Your competition will be newly graduated attorneys willing to work as paralegals and legal secretaries because you will be expected to do both jobs of secretery and paralegal if you don't have many years of experience.

There are dozens of MBA's out there looking for work. The company I work for just laid off a bunch of them along with IT people and CEO's.

The bottom is, unless you possess a skill others don't have or are in the medical profession your chances of getting a job right now are slim and none. Hopefully things will turn around withing the next ten years or so but there is no guarantee.

I don't mean to be rude, but is English your second language? You post was rather oddly written. I only mention it because competition for any job here is really stiff. If your resume reads at all like your post, the competition will be even stiffer.
