"Oldtintype", your reply was helpful.I am getting more geeked about visiting Oregon as I continue with my research..Funny, from my end of the keyboards, Oregon looks like heaven on earth, albeit conditional. Every state obviously has its upside and downside. I am wondering...how long ago did the big exodus to Oregon begin and real estate prices steadily escalate? I'm a water type of person so really only want to (as for now), do the coast thing. Really is the only place I would consider moving to.Unrealistic???

Where I am on the coast prices started to creek up in 2004 but slowly. By 2005 it was going up a lot faster. Prices are still going up in most of Oregon.

Now an exodus was going on during the 90's from California to Oregon. It slowed then started up again when prices went sky high in California.

If you are looking for waterside we also have lakes and rivers in Oregon.

Yes I agree about mowing only during the warm season. That's also the only time you have to water the lawn. I don't mind mowing but my husband usually does it.

I don't mind throwing another log on the fire but bacon and beans are out.

Some people garden when it is "misting" or "drizzling" they put on rain gear and go for it. Others, like myself wait until it is dry and then spend hours at it and never want to go anywhere during good weather because there is gardening to do.

One should not mow wet lawns, it tends to rip the grass and it can compress the soil which has a lot of clay and can cause it to compact and not absorb.

Many plants do grow wonderfully here but so do weeds...

In January there were at least 10-12 sunny days including a week straight where it was sunny and gorgeous. Early part of next week is supposed to be quite nice as well.

So I must continue my mission to debunk the belief of 9 months straight. Simply not true.

When I was interviewing out in Portland, people always asked if I could take the climate (being from Denver). I know I love the rain so it's no problem, but I thought it was funny. The sunny makes me a bit weird though....
