You guys have been so much help to me and my wife that I'm here to ask another question. I was on Expedia trying to get an idea for the price of our trip to Portland and I found this great deal but I would like some info about the hotel, well to be more specific the area the hotel is in. Would this be a good area to get to know the city? Is it safe? Things like that, seeing as how I have no idea about the different neighborhoods and stuff in Portland I figured I would post by top two choices here and see what you guys recommend. Any other suggestions are more than welcome as well.

La Quinta Inn

Best Western (link isn't working but it's the one located at 1215 N Hayden Meadows Drive, Portland, OR, 97217)

Thanks so much!

I'd choose the La Quinta at the convention center. It's a very quick and easy train ride into the city and there's much more around there. (Lloyd Center, Rose Gardens, etc)

The Best Western is more convienant for I-5 travelers passing thru or those that need to stay close the the Expo Center. (not near as easy to go into the city)

I'd say both areas are relatively safe with some common sense.

I agree with La Quinta. You'll be in the center of everything.
