In a world of chaos and confusion, we like to think that someone things will never change. Apparently Portland's reign as the country's most bike-friendly city is not one of those things. Bicycling magazine just released its bi-annual list of and Portland is ... that's a typo, right?

Well, no.

Like it or not, Minneapolis has taken over as king of the biking world. Well, at least to some. What do you think?

Well someone who about 90-120 minutes from Minneapolis and right outside of the minneapolis/st paul metro, there is always people biking, and it is a really nice city to go biking in. Have absolutely no idea about portland though. I've also heard Missoula, MT is a very bike friendly city, but that isn't really a major city. http://www.ci.missoula.mt.us/DocumentView.aspx?DID=513

My girlfriend, an avid biker, who grew up in Minnesota but lives in Portland will be amused by this.

Expect Minneapolis to be 'dethroned' in 6 months when the next list comes out.
I mean do cities really change THAT much that you need a brand new list twice a year?

I doubt it.

Well there is this: whatever its ranking now, Portlands GPS coordinates will not be changed by anything less than an 8.5 Richter fault adjustment. Neither will Minneapolis'. Which city would you prefer to do your 13mi (each way) commute in? In January?

Our City council will not stand for this. They'll take away more car lanes soon.

I wish they'd take away all the car lanes (downtown).
It'd be paradise...

I'd rather bike in Portland's temperate climate than Minneapolis's extremes!
