OHSU prescribed a sun-lamp to me many years ago, and it didn't work. It didn't manage to fool my brain when I stepped outside in charcoal-grey wet skies (although I'm getting more sensitive to "cold" as I get older). However, spring is my hard time. At some point in May is when I start to turn into the Incredible Hulk. Winter, I expect dark skies.

I usually leave for vacation in April to somewhere sunnier. Not this year, though.

As soon as my friends & I were old enough to drive we used to head over the mountains every spring for sunny Kah-Nee-Ta. It was always sunny altho often chilly. But we spent the entire day playing in the large pool fed by hot springs. The gray days of W. Oregon really get to me & that's one of the reasons why I'm living in SF. But if you're able to you only have to drive 2-3 hours east to find the sun.
