Thanks - my doctor's office wants me to come in to confirm tomorrow, so I had to tell the office I had a last minute doctor's appointment. I'm not telling anyone until we tell our parents (waiting a couple of weeks since his parents are visiting then and we can do it all at once). I wonder why they want to confirm, I thought a false positive was almost impossible? I ended up taking 3 different tests to be sure, because I didn't want to be disappointed.

They always do that at the doctor's office--doesn't mean they don't think you're pregnant. They just like to have their own records. They'll probably give you a bag full of goodies, too!

Yay! It's frustrating because I'm a shop-a-holic and a blabbermouth (and the reason my husband can handle me is because I'll admit it).. but all I want to do is go around and tell everyone about it and start buying cute little baby things. We figure we'll start telling friends at about 8 weeks, which isn't bad because we aren't telling our parents until about 6-7 weeks once they're all here. Unfortunately, though, Jewish tradition is not to bring anything into the home for your baby until it is born. All I can do is get the room ready... and I really want to shop!

Do you plan to find out the sex? I think it would be exciting to be surprised, but I was way too impatient and wanted to find out the sex as soon as I could when I was pregnant!

MAZEL TOV! They'll end up taking 1/2 your total blood volume (JUST KIDDING!) for blood tests. Unless you're rail-thin, you probably won't show until you're ~14 weeks or so, +/-; you WILL however, micturate () quite a bit. I assume you're Jewish? Eastern European? Please test for Tay-Sachs disease, especially if there's been family on either side with this disease.

do you have a friend that would hang on to your shopping spree stuff at their house so you don't have to bring it into yours?

We're going to try not to find out the sex, but I'm not good with anticipation sometimes so my husband knows that if I can't stand it then I have to know. I do have people who can hold onto stuff for me, my mother has already made the offer but she lives 45-60 min away so hopefully some closer friends will also be able to hold some stuff.

I'm going to talk to them about the genetic testing tomorrow. Neither my husband or I are Tay-Sachs carriers because all 4 of our parents weren't, but there are other genetic disorders that we had planned on getting tested for and didn't get the chance. However, now that I am pregnant we should be able to get the insurance company to pay for it!

Congrats Sara!

I was the same way. I was sick a few days after, only in the mornings. I was eating eggs & it just came right back up. Morning sickness for me was worst with my son..

Ok, so the doctor's office confirmed it. I am due a week before my birthday! They didn't give me a bag of goodies yet, just a FitPregnancy magazine. I don't mind though. We're going to schedule the genetic testing when I go in for my first real prenatal visit. We'll do mine and if I come out positive for anything then we'll have my husband test. If I'm negative from what I can tell there isn't really any chance that our child will have any of those issues.
