My wife and I have lived in Renton/Seattle area for over 40 years and have sold our home. We have been snow birds for the past four years. Last year we purchased a small place for us to go in the winter. We are considering purchasing a place in Prescott for summer use. We like to out doors and I love to fish for bass and crappie etc. We enjoy thrift shops, movies, entertainment and restaurants. We would need plenty of parking for our 38 ft. RV, 20 ft. boat and some vehicles. Can anyone suggest a location in or near Prescott to satisfy our needs? Thanks, Bob.

Unless you want to store you toys elsewhere, you will need to look at Prescott Country Club, Viewpoint, or non-subdivision areas within Prescott Valley. You could also look in Dewey and Chino Valley if you want to be more rural. If you have a little more money to spend, you could try Pinon Oaks, Yavapai Hills, Cliff Rose, or some of the older sections in Prescott.

I would advise checking very carefully for any area you are considering. Many jurisdictions are very restrictive on living in RVs parked on lots. Even a lot you own.

I'm not sure the fishing nearby is very good, but I have been too busy to find out first-hand. Alamo Lake is decent, but around 4 hours driving.

I have a friend who fishes a lot at Goldwater lake. They stock many of the lakes around here.

I am looking forward to moving to Prescott in 2014 and buying a small fishing boat! All of the lakes look amazing. The Dells behind Watson Lake just makes me want to move right now! Any advice on boats, boating, etc? I know that motors are limited, so I'm looking at a small boat with a trolling motor.

We have a Gregor that we bought used years ago. They are welded aluminum, and do not develop the leaks that riveted aluminum boats do. Ours is small enough to slide into a standard pickup.

We also have a Eide electric roof rack that is super easy to use on the roof of a vehicle. Highly recommended. boatloader.com

I am partial to Minn Kota motors, but their margin of superiority has become diminished as of late. Stay away from Chinese.

The only trolling batteries worth buying are made by Trojan. Minn Kota batteries used to be made by Trojan. Not sure now. Having been a solar guy for 20 years, (RV and house) my experience has made me a Trojan True Believer. Buy a good charger with a deep cycle and a desulfator setting.
