As a semi-retiree (not looking for work) who can'y afford Prescott but wants good access to its activities, we chosen CV over PV. is that reasonable?

Also, are CV schools that different?
We've turned our attention to CV after not finding what we wanted in Prescott. We've found two rentals that seem to fit our needs, one in the Del Rio Elementary School district and the other in the Territorial school area.

We actually like the one in the Territorial district better, but the greatschools.com test result ratings rank it at 5 out of ten while the Del Rio ranking is 8. That seems to indicate a major qualitative difference.

Any one have a comment on the relative merits of the two?

I can't comment on CV schools, maybe someone who has kids in CV can.

As far as CV vs. Prescott, CV will always be LESS $$$ than Prescott. The scenery is different of course, as is access to more stores, shopping and medical care. If you don't mind the 30 minute drive from CV to Prescott, then it should be OK.

Just do your homework before you buy. Make sure your future home is not in the Big Chino Pipeline path, that you are on a city sewer (if septic then make sure you are not in line to change over), if on a private well check for arsenic levels in water, radon is not a big issue out in CV, and make sure you are not on a flood plain. Finally, get a home inspection done.

Other than that, welcome to the tri-city!

It looks like you will be renting. Make sure the owner is not on the verge of going into foreclosure. I've seen many tenants get burned, because the owner takes their deposit and rent and then bails when the bank takes over the home. You should be ok if the rental is managed by a reputable management company (provided that they hold the security deposits). Otherwise, make sure the owner is being honest with you.

Chino Valley is nice, if you like the country and country living. But for a tiny town, they sure do have a lot of bars and places for entertainment (the only reason why I go there). The people there are nice too.

Yes, especially if you get up a little higher on the west side toward the north. Stunning views are available. We have a friend up in the NW corner who can see Sedona's rocks from his porch.

ON EDIT I see that he is actually just out of CV. Just north of T Bone Rd in the County, but we have another friend just west of the north end of Yuma who has about the same great view.

When we were land shopping, we were unaware of such nice view locations in CV. Might've looked there.

Chino Valley does have nicer people there than in P.V. That's for sure.

The waiters and waitresses, in the restuarants there, are much more chilled and not done up. They just have a more natural beauty appeal over there, in my opinion.
