What's going on in Prescott during Christmas? I have relatives coming from L.A. wanting some forest/snow action not far from Phoenix. In the past we've been to Sedona and Flagstaff. I really want to go to Prescott this year. Also, any suggestions for a restaurant/bar? Doesn't have to be touristy. Just good drafts and if it has a history, all the better. Thank you all in advance for your suggestions. I really appreciate it.

When are you thinking about coming up here? Lots of stuff happening...

One of the more unique things (I think) is Acker night - I believe it's December 12. Most all shops and many restaurants/bars downtown have different musical groups performing. Although I've lived here more than a decade, I only checked it out for the first time last year. Parking is a royal pain, but it's worth it for an enjoyable and friendly night out.

If you guys were up for it, why not drive up on a Saturday morning, stay overnight (Hotel St. Michael or Hassayampa Inn are popular and convenient but not necessarily cheap), then head over Mingus Mountain to Jerome/Cottonwood/Sedona the next day? Or do it in reverse...

Not into the bar scene, but for restaurants, one of the most popular is Mama Rosa's Pizzeria/Italian on Gurley - two blocks from the square. Loud, service can be slow, but incredibly popular with very good reviews. I think the food is very good but don't care for the long waits and loud environment. If Italian's not your thing, we've got good Thai, burgers, Mexican, etc. - what are you looking for (ethnicity, price, dress code/formality, etc.)?

We now have three brewpubs and a meadery - the latter has a very cool atmosphere, but if mead isn't your thing it may be wasted.

If you're looking for local brews, Prescott Brewing Company used to be the only action in town, but now there is Granite Mountain Brewing on Cortez downtown and Black Hole Beer Company out Iron Springs Road.

Urbanspoon is a good place to look. You can find restaurants and bars by filters like "Craft Beer".

I wish I could make it this year but I have to work. I try to join my cousins every year for this event even though I don't live in Prescott anymore. I love downtown during the holidays. So pretty and fun.
