Could not find anything in City.data regarding Prescotts' non-hospital care.

Moving there within a month...have yet to seek a Family Physician; Dentist and the rest of medical care practitioners.

Could you Presconittes' chime in as to the availability of these. Have heard that there has been a high occurrence of not taking in any more Medicare/Supplemental insurance patients thus most are flocking to Phoenix for their care?

Understand the Hospital is just fine for a Town of 40,000 and if you need care simply walk in there and be taken care of!?

cheers..

NC Transplants:
We have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and found that just about all providers accept that insurance. I've only had to use an eye doctor and have had no issues with either the doctor or insurance. I used Eye Care Associates of Prescott and highly recommend them. We also used Lori Sell insurance for all of our insurance needs. She is also an agent for Blue Cross Blue Shield. You might want to contact her, I'm sure she will set you up in the right direction for all your insurance needs. She saved us over $1000 a year in both car and homeowners insurance. Prescott being a retirement community I've heard that there are also many specialists in the area.

That is true for primary insurance sans Medicare as of yet or is your BlueCross/Blue shield your supplemental insurance after Medicare(80 Med/20 BcBs)?

cheers...

No, this is our primary insurance, we are not eligible for Medicare yet. I don't know how that works.

Once you become an oldie like us..65> you will become eligible for Medicare and your current primary(BC/BS) becomes your secondary.

Medicare 80%--BC/BS 20%.

Be mindful that your current primary BC/BS cost will be the same for a 20% coverage!

After 61 views...hmnn!!!... still no feedback regarding new Medicare patients being accepted by local Prescott family doctors?

cheers...

Gee, NC Transplant if this was the case, it is NOT!!!than this town would turn into ghost town because 49 percent are people of 50 and over.

I go to a Nurse practitioner that I feel is better than any Doctor I go to and she spends 20 mins or better with her patients. She accepts allot of insurances. Don't fret, continue searching the doctors you need to go to. Best of Luck.

There is also "Urgent Care" which are here in Prescott and Prescott Valley. I don't think you'll have any issues in finding the right doctors or medical services that you may require. Hopefully you will not need any of them and you can enjoy your retirement years taking advantage of this beautiful state. And it is beautiful! Thanks for the info on secondary care, we have a few more years yet to go before we will need it.

I recently had to change my PCP because he stopped taking my insurance. I used my insurance company's website to search for doctors in my area. It was a LONG list but there were errors and not all doctors listed were available or taking new patients.

I recommend you do the same using your insurance provider's website and see what it looks like.

If you are Medicare patient in Prescott and you need a Cardiologist or an Oncologist, do you have any choice? Or do you need to go to Phoenix?
