If you use Cableone/Sparklight for your email be prepared to find another provider by the end of the year. We received a notice that Sparklight is phasing out its email and they recommend signing up with either someone like google or outlook. What a real pain. I've had a back up mail serivce for years but not connected to any businesses/banks/credit unions/utilities etc. Happy New Year!

You are probably over thinking this. It's very easy to go to gmail or yahoo or something else and get an email account. I have Sparklight but have never used their email. Yes, it will take a while to set it up, but it's no big deal.

I've already signed up with outlook. It's just a hassle notifying everyone - VA, social security, pension/disability, medicare/tricare and so on. We've had cableone for years and it's hard to leave the comfort zone

This is why you never want to use the email provided by your internet provider. I have some friends who use Cox email or CenturyLink email. They are stuck because they do not want to lose their email.

I use Gmail / Outlook so I am not tied to my ISP.

I agree, AndroidAZ. I've been using an Apple email account since it was mac.com.

Set up a new email account now. Set your cableone.net email to transfer all messages to the new account. As they arrive in the new account, notify them of your change of address. If it's a business, login to your account on their website and change your email address there. It's a hassle, but this way you'll be done and good to go by the time they turn off your account.

In case you care (I do), be aware that Gmail reads all your messages.
