We are coming to Prescott in the spring in our RV to look at the area. We first need an RV park to stay in while we decide if this is where we want to live.
My first question is where to park the RV for a few weeks or months?

We are coming from Georgia and promise not to bring gnats or bugs too big to describe. We'll leave the tornado's here too.

Is anyone familiar with Pine Lake MH Park? It seems to be the kind of place we'd like to live.

I understand there is a VA hospital in Prescott and although we have no great medical problems my husband checks-in every 6 mo and I'd like to volunteer.

I'm also interested in higher education for seniors and tai chi & yoga. Arthritis is our problem so walking and biking are of interest.

What are water issues? Is it metered? Cost? etc?

Any thoughts?

I visited Pine Lakes in October. Sad to say that I think the place looks better on the web than it does in person, since I had high hopes for the place. Also their land lease fees are very high in my opinion ... I was told $600+. The population I saw walking around was very very senior.

But your mileage may vary, as they say. Give it a visit.

For a few weeks or a few months - there's an RV park in Dewey (not a far drive from the Prescott area at all) called Orchard Ranch. It's a combination of full-time mobile homes and RV's. We stayed there one night - very quiet, nice people, has laundry, pool, activities, etc. - and took a tour of the new area they're opening up. The new area would be perfect if it had more trees Maybe by the time I'm ready to choose my place, they will - they're planting like crazy. (The older sections are nicely shaded.) They're right on Hwy 69, but I couldn't hear any traffic at night.

Do not consider the Yavapai County Fairgrounds RV Park - the place is treeless and no amenities at all. Oops. Sorry. They had cable, power, and water. But no trees, no nothing. Except a constant wind and lots of gravel.

But these are just my opinions

Thumbs up Thankyou

Thanks,
This is just the kind of info I was looking for. I agree about the price of the land lease in Pine Lakes but it we will give it a look see. At least the seniors "were walking".
Dewey sounds like a good place to land. I like to know where I'm going for the first week or so.
Thanks Again

Don't know your age, but Orchard is a 55+ community. You could also look at Point of Rocks RV park, which is where we stayed when we first came here. The park is nothing special, but the surroundings are spectacular.

When my wife's Dad moved here, he kept raising his hand and making a fist, saying "Look!" He's 77 and was not able to make a fist in the cold weather in upstate NY. Now he's happy as a clam and is fixing up houses for fun.
