He lead a #1 seed into a game at home in the divisional round, had no answer for Rex Ryan's defensive scheme, and was at the helm for perhaps the biggest choke job of the playoffs, after the media had all but crowned them the new champions. Mike Tomlin was dealt a lengthy suspension to his star quarterback, and injuries to various o-lineman, Aaron Smith and Troy Polamalu, still managed to coach them to a #2 seed, and is know playing in his second Super Bowl before his 40th birthday. Heck, even if you want to throw the playoffs out, based on the circumstances surrounding the team I think Raheem Morris was a more deserving candidate.

Um, these are regular season awards, not postseason awards. The awards handed out this week are based on regular season performance.

Yup...coach of the year awards almost always go to the coach of the team who has the best record

He won his division in spite of having a very young team, while losing players, either through trades or free agency to his old assistant coaches. We had one of his boy geniuses here in Denver. He thought he WAS Bill, he even dressed like him. He just didn't have all that useless knowledge on how to build a good team or years of experience. Other than that, he was GREAT! That's why he's COTY

I agree that Raheem Morris probably should have won. The Pats were young and all, but no one expected them to fall off the face of the earth...they were expected to contend. I agree hardly anyone saw #1 seed, but winning the AFC East wasnt outside the realm of possibilty either...

Actually, I think Todd Haley should have won it and this is coming from someone that lives in KC and hates the Chiefs. No one expected that team to win more than 6 games. However, it may have been more Charlie Weis and Crennel than Haley.

Because the Patriots were a coach and a QB surrounded by average players, and they still finished with the best record in the NFL.

The Pats still had more talent than the Bucs or Chiefs, for that matter...

LOL, he used his dark powers of the Sith to influence the voters. He just looked like Emperor Palpatine with that hoody covering his head in that playoff game. Some say it was so he could get "special" info via earphones, who knows. I guess with Bill B it's possible.
Some coaches are over rated. Bill Cowher has a commentators gig now and some people even want him back as a head coach. Tomlin is way better than he ever was. I'm not saying Cowher wasn't colorful, just that he barely got one SB win and that was more from bad refereeing and an only fairly good opposing team.

The Bucs missed the playoffs this year. The Bucs lost a home game to the Detroit Lions late in the season that cost them dearly.

They had a nice season, but you should not win C.O.T.Y. if you miss the playoffs.
