The status of being selected for the Pro Bowl ... far exceeds the quality and meaning of the game itself --- Look at the stats; ... the number of Pro Bowl's is always mentioned.
But, somehow, the game either needs to be turned-into a real, competitive match instead of a cartoonish walk-through --- Maybe if they replaced it with a skills competition between selected Pro-Bowl 'selectees' ... How about a game where the College BCS Champions play against Pro Bowl Selectees ... at lest that might stir-up some 'professional pride' to make the game interesting ... otherwise, at the current pace, the NFL Pro Bowlers would get beaten
How come the Baseball 'All Star' game remains competitive and entertaining,... while the Pro Bowl becomes a sham? ... maybe it is because players aren't risking career-ending injuries in the All Star Game?

Well it sounds like they are going with my plan. They will announce a pro-bowl team but will not play the game. At least now they will get the proper recognition without having to play and sub out a ton of guys.
Yes in fact axe them all except baseball, the others have no D and aren't even played close to a normal game
It's true. In basketball, there is never defense. In football, both superbowl teams players don't play in it. So why would it continue? Just give the awards each year and move on.
Okay fans, it's that time of year again....when the old arguments surface about the Pro Bowl, or as I think we should call it, the Pro Blow.

It shouldn't be stopped, people should just stop having such high expectations. There is no reason for players to risk getting hurt and most will never really give a full effort. I think they should do some type of skill exhibit like the NBA
It's that time of year again....new forum members may want to vote in the poll.

As a fan, I think it sucks like every all-star game of every sport.
But I think for many players, it's an honor. It's an accolade for the hard work they put in as a player, so even if their team can't win, at least they are given some credit in the world of the NFL that they are really good players.
Maybe they should just have a Pro Bowl selection, and then take them all out to dinner and let them drink Pro Scorpion Bowls and take home a little trophy. The game itself is nothing more then a flag football game without flags. At least the college equivalent showcases talent for hopes of an NFL contract.
My opinion has always been it's suppose to be a "fun game." Not meant to be serious.
I would like the NFL to have a skills competition, that maybe interesting to watch.
Baseball took the fun out of their All Star game by making it tense and "making it mean something".
