Up to this point Ive considered him the greatest since Joe Montana, better than Manning. If however, he loses this SB AND doesnt play well (Both of those variables) I'll still consider him great and a Hall OF fAMER, just not in my mind and discussion possibly the greatest of all time as previously believed
I would never use a single game as much of a measurement for anything. Now if he goes out and is 5/50 with 6 interceptions I think it would make people question things a bit. But really, I just don't see it having much of a negative impact on his overall body of work if he plays poorly.
No----there would no need to change your evaluation of Brady if the Pats lose the SB.
He has multiple SB wins to his name and has proven to everyone that he is a winner-----he has had a great career and is easily headed to the hall of fame-----this mans career and accomplishments would not be denigrated by a loss in this game.
Absolutely wouldn't change a thing. Winning 3 out of your 5 Super Bowl appearances is amazing. Not to mention, football is a team sport. If Brady plays good but the Pat's D comes up short or whatever, it shouldn't affect what people think of him. I can't stand the Patriots, but Tom Brady is one of the best QB's to ever play the game.
If Dan Marino can be considered by many as one of the Top 25 QB's to ever play the game without ever winning a Super Bowl and only going to one, I'd say Tom Brady could lose his next 10 Super Bowl's and I'd still put him in the top 3 QB's to play the game. He's done a lot of great things on the field, but the SB's have put him over the top.
Neither will a Super Bowl win nor a Super Bowl loss be hung on Tom Brady. Granted, he gets the bulk of the credit if they win... he would also get the bulk of the blame if he fails to throw for 300+ yards and 4+ touchdowns with zero interceptions.
He's obviously good enough to be part of a team that's come this far... but what if the kicking game blows it or the defense cannot stop Eli and Company on 3rdfacebook and long or the special teams has a bad day or Gronk can't go?
Now... if the New England Patriots win Super Bowl XLVI ... Steeler fans are gonna be sore.

ironic, because the kicking game is the clutch reason why he has 3 rings, I mean they won all their SB's by 2 or 3 points. Never dominating once. (but they're a dynasty of course)
if it wasn't for that and the "tuck rule" where would he be?
without the tuck rule they don't even make one SB, then they're down to 2 and only win b/c of place kicking.
