Hey, Kees, I took Atlanta! Saw an article over at NFL.com where Mike McCarthy said his players like when they are disrespected, keeps them motivated. He knows the 49ers are favored in this matchup and he doesn't care.

He has a book out, We're Nobody's Underdog. He made the remark in 2010 when AR had a concussion and no one gave Pack a chance going to New England. Pats won but Matt Flynn kept that game close. He does not like to talk about teams being pushovers, games being easy, I think he subscribes to the "any given Sunday theory"! He gets bashed for his coaching, but I think he is great.

Asante Samuel said the same thing... All the haters keep Atlanta motivated.

On a side note I found an article that is worth a read...

http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=8819333

4 of the last 5 playoff teams with the easiest schedule made the Super Bowl. That's an omen for Atlanta eh?

Picking the Falcons and the Packers to round out my Divisional playoff picks...I am not on the Seattle bandwagon this week...

I just think the travel and the early start time plus Falcons being well rested is going to hurt the Seahawks too much.....

I am biased but I am going with Denver and New England on the AFC side then my guess is Atlanta and San Francisco on the NFC side.

I think the NFC should hope that the Falcons lose again because to me that's a really good football team and Matt Ryan is a good QB. They are just waiting to breakthrough. I really think if they can finally win their first playoff game and get that monkey off their back they might elevate their game to the next level.

Reading comments all over the place and listening to commentors the consensus view outside of Atlanta seems to be this notion that the Atlanta Falcons are sitting shaking in their boots scared and nervous to death because they haven't won a playoff game before. To us that have been watching the team for years it's obvious that's not the case. Atlanta's players that were inexperienced and unsure in the past are pretty much vets now. Even against Green bay a couple years ago they came out very confident. It just so happened that nobody was going to stop Green bay that year. But the 2013 Sea Hawks are not the 2011 Packers. They have far more weaknesses. And Atlanta is much stronger than they were then. This years Falcons have been a very professional one game at a time bunch. Matt Ryan will be very cool and focused as long as the offensive line does a half decent job of protecting him. Which they will after having had a bye and being all healthy.

I've been saying this all along.
