Adrian Peterson misses Minnesota Vikings practice after 2-year-old son beaten

Running back Adrian Peterson missed the Minnesota Vikings’ practice Thursday after two-year-old son was badly beaten, allegedly by the man dating the mother of his child.

The boy is in critical condition in a South Dakota hospital, according to the website.

Yuck.

Out of wedlock children is one of the worst things these athletes do.

It happens to lots of people, not just athletes.

My cousin went through similar problems as have my buddies relative.

You have a kid with a gal, that is just together enough to not lose custody....but not by much, you are at the mercy of her bad decisions.

I understand it happens to all - I guess I think of the extreme cases where some of them have 7 kids or more.

Black community 70%+ right now born into single parent households. Ugh. I'm just doing what I can so that my kids don't contribute to this.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Peterson and his family. May the man who injured that little boy be brought to justice

A very sad story indeed, and yes it does happen everywhere, but athletes being in the limelight, it comes to the forefront.

Child beaters are worthless. I think he should be forced to participate in the Vikings full-contact practices but without pads.

Ha - bring John Randle out of retirement. Might as well give him some verbal abuse as well...

I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of an Adrian Peterson beat-down. That dude is well-built.

Agreed: people who abuse children are freakin worthless.

Latest news was that she'd recently met and then moved in with the boyfriend.....and that he had a past history of domestic violence etc.

Hey, just shack up with a guy you barely know without checking his history? What is this gal some sort of drug-head?

Child is on life support and "unresponsive".
We all know what that means 99% of the time...the kid isn't going to make it and if they do, has probably suffered brain damage.
