I, for one, am deliriously happy that we're having Super Bowl 50 instead of Super Bowl L, or Lame, or Loser. Which is why they broke from tradition to use real numbers to denote the fifty instead of the idiotic "L" of the stupid (Roman) system.
Now, I'm probably being nuts to admit this, but I'm holding my breath and hoping and praying that they will continue to use real numbers to denote future Super Bowls, i.e., Super Bowl 51, 52, etc. Otherwise, we'll be getting into those stupid letters which mean nothing to me (since I'm too lazy to try and decipher the stupid (excuse me, I mean Roman) system. That's why my eyes glaze over when they talk about Super Bowl XVIII or whatever - I have NO idea when that Super Bowl took place or what came before or after that one - it's just letters to me.
I beseech the good folks at the NFL to please, please, please stick with real numbers from here on out. Some folks think they'll do the right thing, others say they'll go back to stupid - so, I'm posing the question to the dedicated NFL fans here on City-Data - what do you want? Real numbers, or random strings of letters which will get longer and longer as the years roll by?
I thank you in advance for voting in this simple poll.

Some traditions aren't worth continuing, imo. Sure, it was fine when they had Super Bowl X, or XX, or XVI, but when it gets to 39, gosh, it gets a bit messy, to say the least.
The Roman Empire died 2000 years ago - save the Roman numbers for the Pope or whatnot. Football is contemporary, and I think we should use regular, everyday numbers. I think most people, casual fans especially, would agree.
One more thing - for those who have the same desire as I to have them use numbers for future Super Bowls, I suggest making a suggestion to them via the contact page:
In this case being that is the 50th edition of the Super Bowl, yeah I can agree with the OP. But if the NFL decides to go back to the Roman Numerals next season, no biggie

LOL
My husband just asked me about this last night. I am sure it's because many people don't know what "L" stands for, and the 50th anniversary of anything is pretty big, so the spelling out makes it more obvious.

There is always Xbox or PS4 for the "casual" fan
