Is this discussion about Super Bowl 49? If so, it will be played in Glendale, AZ, on February 1, 2015; not in San Francisco.

In 2016 it will be played in San Francisco. The basis for my question is because the OP asked about 'next year's' Super Bowl and this is still 2014.

Some here have mentioned marching bands which in the traditional sense would be the best.

How about a drumline contest between several competitors?

Somehow I can't see Metallica being able to pull this off as having only four members in the band limits the number of things you can portray other than a ball or small blob. Best they keep the bands up on stage.

How about Weezer. They are always good for a party. I've never really met someone who had an extreme dislike for Weezer, maybe not love them but not hate them either.

I'm pretty sure most FOOTBALL FANS reference "a year" by what season it is... Not which calendar year it is... Maybe that's just me.
Also when you see Pepsi's Super Bowl advertisements on TV, they say, "Tune into this year's SB halftime show!" ... Or if you were to watch an actual game, they speculate who is going to "this year's" SB... Because it is connected to... THIS SEASON.

So to clarify...

This year's Super Bowl = SB 49 in AZ
Next year's Super Bowl = SB 50 in SF

Regardless of that crap (I'm into metal, so I generally never watch the halftime anyways), I guess other than Metallica,, maybe since Megadeth has half broken up, how about Mustaine re-uniting with Metallica in that halftime show of yours? If not, we could sicken the world by putting on a band who dresses up, like Gwar or Slipknot. Personally I'd pick Opeth, but one of their songs would last the entire halftime - maybe play Deliverance.
There we go... This is what I'm talking about.
Just have Akerfeldt and the boys come out and play "Ghost of Perdition" and that's all you need.
No "featuring" crap... No dancers... No ditzy girls taking selfies in the front the stage...

I realize that the NFL is trying to play to the masses with the halftime show... But poppy halftimes shows are about as disconnected from pro football as you can get.
A game is hard hitting... Speed... Intensity... Precision... All of which go hand in hand with metal.
I know I'm totally dreaming (hence the title of the thread), but it would be perfect.

Halftimes should be 15 minutes for the Super Bowl, just like any other NFL GAME.

Or... just have the entire cast of Walking Dead stumble around the field for 15 minutes, as they pipe in Zombie Nation.. and then stumble off. That should send the zombie crazies into a cold sweat frenzy.
