With The Broncos likely losing to the Bengals, with the Patriots beating Denver on November 2, 2014, the Patriots will clinch home - field throughout the AFC playoffs. Who can beat the Patriots in Foxboro?
I believe that the OP is correct. Unfortunately, (aside from Denver) I believe I'm stuck rooting for them. I mean, there is just no way in HELL that I can root for Pittsburgh, Baltimore or Cincinnati!
I would be very surprised if any team in the AFC can come to Gillette and beat the Patriots. This is the most balanced I have seen this team in almost a decade. The horrid defense of the past 6+ years appears to be a thing of the past. Brady is, well, Brady, and Belichick continues to prove he's one of the greatest coaches ever. The Pats might not be #1 is stats for passing, running, run defense, pass defense.....but they do a great job keeping other teams out of the end zone while scoring themselves. The Pats bring a lot of confusion on both sides of the ball which other teams will struggle with.
Bottom line though, it will all come down to the health of the team. If everyone stays relatively healthy (Brady, Gronk, Edelman, Blount, Lafelle, Jones, Wilfork....) I believe the Pats will make it to the Super Bowl.

Look, I get it. Year after year all the fans of every #1 seed start boasting this time of year how they are unbeatable. It happened a couple years ago when the Ravens as double digit underdogs beat the Broncos...there are other upsets where the #1 or #2 gets beat.
Nothing is a given no matter how big the spread is...
Looking up stats on the internet, interesting that #1 and #2 seeds don't always do so well, according to charts about 50/50 proposition in terms of who wins. The sixth seed teams fare better than one would think, but having a tough road to get there may not be a bad thing. All teams need balance at this stage of the season, they better be or they will be in trouble.

The Ravens if they get in. MAYBE the Steelers if Ben has one of those 400 yards/6 TD games but that's really stretching it. Everyone else (even the Broncos) will fold like a cheap tent.
I don't see one AFC that can beat the Pats in New England, not this 2014 Pats team
